Partnership and workshops for Digital Arts & Entertainment

Narratify is proud to partner with Roots & Pixels, a unique two-week intensive training program designed for female-identifying game developers from Belgium, South Africa, Kenya, and Uganda. Organised in collaboration with Games for Change, the program brings together 16 talented women—from junior developers to experienced professionals—to create games focused on social impact, ethical storytelling, and cultural roots.

As an ecosystem partner, Narratify provided end-to-end support, bridging cross-cultural communication, talent selection, and specialized narrative training.

Our 360° Operational Involvement

1. Talent Selection & Advisory

Leveraging our expertise in narrative design and inclusive hiring, Narratify actively participated in the selection committee. We helped review and identify applicants who demonstrated a strong potential for impact-driven storytelling, ensuring a diverse and deeply motivated cohort.

2. Cross-Cultural & Intercultural Mediation

Bringing together creators from four distinct countries across Europe and Africa requires deep empathy and communication frameworking. Throughout the two-week program, Narratify acted as an intercultural bridge, cultivating a safe, collaborative environment where participants could confidently share their unique histories, soft skills, and creative perspectives.

3. Core Workshop: Cultural Authenticity & Anti-Backlash Training

Our flagship contribution to the curriculum was a specialized masterclass tailored for games tackling real-world social issues.

  • The Focus: We trained the developers on how to safely weave their own roots and sensitive themes (identity, history, marginalization) into their game design without falling into stereotypes.
  • Anti-Backlash Strategies: We provided actionable frameworks on how to handle potential public or industry backlash when releasing socially relevant or politically charged content. This equipped the creators with the narrative resilience and confidence needed to stand firmly behind their creative choices.

4. Game Jam Jury & Mentorship

The program culminated in an intensive, international Game Jam. Narratify’s leadership team served on the official jury panel, evaluating the prototypes on their technical execution, creative storytelling, and social impact metrics, while providing professional feedback to help the developers pitch their games to the wider industry.

💬 Client Testimonial

"Working together with Jennifer and Mickael from Narratify was one of the most valuable aspects of the first edition of the Roots & Pixels training program. Jennifer and Mickael made these challenging topics approachable and visible through historical examples and interactive exercises. The workshop from Narratify provided a powerful foundation for participants to work from, and – on top of all of this – they are just two genuine, passionate, inspiring individuals. You can feel the love they have for their craft and it inspires you to transmit the same amount of dedication into your own work. Narratify is a shining example of what this industry needs."
